The elected representatives of the LR opposition deplored on Tuesday a decision "absolutely not responsible" in view of the growing coronavirus epidemic in France.

On Monday, the 101 members of the Marseille city council were to meet face-to-face in the hemicycle of the Bargemon space, as several elected officials had confirmed at

a few days ago.

Finally, the city council scheduled for next week is postponed to a date that has not been specified.

In a press release sent this Wednesday late afternoon, the municipality justifies such a decision by "the exceptional situation caused by the government's announcements on the reconfinement".

An awaited municipal council

"Responsibility requires concentrating all our efforts, beyond political divisions, on the health and safety of the people of Marseilles and Marseillais, the schools, the safeguard of the economy and the social support of the most vulnerable", writes the Marseille town hall.

This municipal council was a highly anticipated political event, since it had to focus in particular on the responses provided by the new municipality to the report of the regional chamber of accounts on the management of the city of Marseille by Jean-Claude Gaudin.

In its press release, the Marseille city hall affirms that the issue of the health crisis will be addressed at the next municipal council.
