  • A young pregnant woman died from dog bites a year ago in a forest in the Aisne.

  • The investigation determined that only his companion's dog was involved, ruling out the trail of a hounding pack.

  • The animal, an American pitbull terrier, had been acquired illegally and trained with biting, a practice banned in France.

It has been almost a year since Elisa Pilarski, a young pregnant woman, was found dead, killed by dogs, in a forest in the Aisne.

For a long time, suspicion targeted a pack of dogs belonging to a hunting crew which was not far from the scene of the tragedy.

According to the Soissons prosecutor's office, it is now certain that only Curtis, the victim's companion dog, is involved in his death.

An american pitbull terrier who had nothing to do in France.

On Saturday November 16, 2019, Elisa Pilarrski, 29, made a disturbing call to her companion Christophe while she was walking Curtis, the latter's dog, on the edge of the forest of Retz, in the vicinity of Saint-Pierre-Aigle .

When the man arrived there, he found the young woman dead, her body covered with bites.

"The Curtis dog was the subject of biting training"

An investigation had been opened by the Soissons prosecutor's office.

DNA samples had been taken from the five dogs belonging to the couple as well as from 33 dogs from a hunting pack.

At the same time, experts analyzed the injuries on Elisa Pilarski's body.

It emerges from these investigations that only the DNA of the dog Curtis was found on the body of the victim and the bites are compatible with the jaw of this same animal.

"The expertises converge and tend to demonstrate the exclusive involvement of the dog Curtis in the bites which led to the death of Mrs. Pilarski", affirms the prosecutor of Soissons, Eric Boussuge.

The investigation also determined that the implicated dog, an American pitbull terrier, had been acquired by the victim's companion in a breeding farm in the Netherlands and illegally introduced into France.

According to the Soissons prosecutor's office, "it also appears that the Curtis dog was the subject of biting training, a form of training prohibited in France".

Experts also state that “this method of training is likely to abolish any capacity for control or discernment and leads to behavior without discrimination concerning the object or the person bitten.

"

However, the judicial investigation is not closed.

The prosecution specifies that the parties can still request “additional acts”.

The prosecutor also hopes that the rest of the investigation can take place "in a peaceful context".

The affair had indeed strongly opposed the camp of hunters, in particular the defenders of hunting with hounds, to that of anti-hunting.
