  • Endless landings in Lampedusa, a crowded hotspot again

03 November 2020Other 4 landings, with 267 migrants, in Lampedusa (Ag).

The barges - these are not small boats at the moment - continue to arrive and there have been 13 landings since tonight.

A rhythm that seems to follow that of July and August.

Also because the sea conditions are considered very good, even for the next two or three days.

Since last night the number of people disembarked has reached 727.

The Lampedusa hotspot with 1,263 guests is in collapse.

The transfer machine is already at work and in front of the island there is the quarantine ship "Allegra" where the Prefecture of Agrigento plans, in the next few hours, to transfer 500 people, as many as there are places available on the ship that is empty.

However, it takes time because it is necessary to pre-identify, report photos and subject all migrants who will have to board to a rapid anti-Covid swab.

Only after having acquired the results of the test can you proceed with the planning of embarkations or in any case of the movements of migrants.

Between yesterday and the day before yesterday, 260 migrants left the hotspot in the Imbriacola district and were transferred to the Suprema quarantine ship.

Among them also a positive person at Covid-19.
