Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, through his Twitter account, posted a video clip of the child Elif Prinçak, with a toy in a hospital bed, and waving to the camera.

The Turkish rescue teams were able to rescue the child Elif yesterday, Monday, from under the rubble of her home, alive after 65 hours of the earthquake.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called the girl to a speedy recovery.

An Anadolu Agency report called the girl "the miracle of the Izmir earthquake," and said that the Turkish search and rescue teams had almost lost hope of reaching the child, Elif Prinçak, while she was alive, after about 65 hours of being stuck under the rubble.

But the miracle came about after Elif (3 years) moved her eyes, despite the long period during which she was trapped under the rubble of the collapsed house due to the earthquake that struck Izmir on Friday.

Tolga Onsal, a member of the search and rescue teams, said that when the team members reached Elif after drilling a hole in the rubble, they found her motionless, thinking she was dead.

"But while she was taken out, we noticed that she moved her eyes, then she made another move, so we realized that she was still alive. It was a miracle for us."

He explained that they provided first aid immediately after it was removed from the hole, then carried it to the field hospital, to complete the necessary medical services, and then transferred it by ambulance to Aegean University Hospital.

Turkish search and rescue teams managed to rescue Elif 65 hours after the earthquake in Izmir (Anatolia)

And he continued, "When one of our colleagues carried her to the ambulance, she clung to his finger, and she was in good health."

Onsal pointed to the importance of the first 72 hours in search and rescue work, stressing that they work non-stop to extract potential neighborhoods from under the rubble.

On Friday, the 6.6-magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of "Safri Hissar" district in Izmir, resulting in 85 deaths and hundreds of injuries, according to a tally as of Monday reported by Anatolia.
