Spanish radio revealed an unusual verbal altercation in the dressing room after Barcelona's disappointing draw with Celta Vigo in LaLiga last season, between former coach Quique Setien and captain Lionel Messi, who appeared during the match ignoring the instructions of assistant coach Edir Sarabia during the break.

According to Cadena Ser radio, Setien told Messi, "If you don't like what I'm saying, there's the door."

The violent response from the coach came because Messi did not like the tone with which Setien addressed the players to reprimand them for the mistakes that caused Barcelona to draw the match.

The radio reported that Messi objected to the coach's accent and responded to him in a manner considered insulting to his coach, as he asked him to respect the players who had previously won all the tournaments and had more achievements than the coach himself, which provoked Setien, and he responded with this unusual intensity from him during the short period in which he took over Barcelona training.

Despite Setien's severity, Messi backed off the escalation and did not respond to it again, contenting himself with a smile that could mean many things.

This incident reflects the extent of the collapse that Barcelona suffered last season, which resulted in losing all the titles that it competed for, and concluded with a historic 2-8 defeat by Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
