Hong Kong Protest program production TV station director arrested November 4, 0:54

In Hong Kong, the director of a television station that produced a special program related to protests was arrested by police for fraudulently viewing car owner information during an interview.

A group of local reporters has strongly accused the crackdown on coverage of the press, which undermines freedom of the press.

The arrested was a 37-year-old female director of RTHK, a public broadcaster in Hong Kong.

The director was involved in the production of a special program about a large number of injured people who were attacked by dozens of men in protest demonstrations at a subway station last July.

This program, which was broadcast in July, was to follow the truth of the case by analyzing the video of the security camera and identifying the owner of the car near the scene, but the police said It is suspected that the director has violated the Road Traffic Ordinance by viewing the registration information of the car owner while hiding the purpose of the interview.

The Hong Kong Journalists Association has issued a statement about the arrest, accusing the police of abusing the law, cracking down on normal coverage and undermining press freedom.

A pro-democracy lawmaker who was seeking responsibility for the incident was also arrested in August, alleging that a person connected to the gang was involved.

Citizens have been criticized for the inadequate police pursuit of the violent side, and the arrest is expected to further increase the opposition to the police.
