This spring, the assistant nurse Therése Mechlenburg and her colleagues at the day surgeon in Norrköping had to change and instead work with seriously ill covid-19 patients - in just two days.

It was a tough period - as Therése Mechlenburg has described in SVT's Video Diary.

Now the department is very worried that they will have to relive the spring.

"No, we can not bear it again"

- Some people absolutely do not want to talk about it, but whatever we talk about, we still always slip into the corona and the fear of ending up in intensive care again.

I would guess that at least half of the colleagues say: No, we will not be able to do it again, says Therése Mechlenburg.

According to Therése Mechlenburg, most people can handle the usual job at the day surgeon.

- Some have been on sick leave from that as well, but are starting to come back now.

"Heavy to see people in that situation"

But many feel that they do not have the strength to get up and work with intensive care and covid patients again.

- It is very difficult, both physically and mentally, to see people in that situation, when they are on a respirator and fighting.

So far, the regular intensive care units are able to take care of the covid patients, but it can take about two weeks before those who have fallen ill now need care.

"May I celebrate Christmas at IVA"

- We will see how the next two weeks will be.

It would be nice if people could just stay at home, but I think many people are tired of it.

It is enough to log in to Facebook and you will see that some take their responsibility while others have the party.

She adds:

- I realize that I probably have to adjust to celebrating Christmas at IVA this year.
