Interview with Marta Nieto, star of the Spanish short that will go to the Oscars
Critic.'Antidisturbios', the Spanish series of the year: hosts, instructions for use
Rodrigo Sorogoyen (Madrid, 1981) savors the success of his latest television series (
Antidisturbios
, Movistar), but he also endures the deluge of criticism from the police unions to whom his particular has made little or no grace, as much as celebrated, portrait of the
guild
.
To a lesser degree, it happened with
El Reino
, a film-effigy about corruption in Spain that some politicians and journalists considered too caricatured regardless of the critical and public success (it won 7 Goyas).
That the sewers of the State hallucinate
Sorogoyen is no secret, what we have come to comment here is his fondness for his personal environment, linked to the world of entertainment, in all his works, starting with his father.
Sorogoyen is the son of
amateur actor Paco Revilla
, who plays a retired policeman in Riot Control who does dirty work and who remembers too much, not only because of his cap, the famous commissioner Villarejo.
Revilla (his character is also called that) shares his birth name with his only son, Rodrigo, whom everyone calls
Ruy
.
That is why he decided to use the artistic name of Paco Revilla, so that there would be no confusion.
In a conversation with
Fotogramas
magazine
, Revilla said that he did theater at university and that he participated in one of his son's first shorts.
Ruy was so satisfied that years later he gave him the role of lawyer for the character played by Antonio de la Torre in El Reino.
"He treated me like the rest of the team but allowing me to work with him has been an act of love on his part. I say that
he has given me eternity,
but it has also been an exhausting tutelage. If I am a 76-year-old retiree! years [today he is 78] who lives quietly in Alicante! In the next one I just want a little scene sitting in a village tavern, wearing a beret and playing mus ".
Nothing further, his next role has been that of none other than Villarejo.
The artistic vein comes to Sorogoyen jr.
not only from his father, but from
his mother, who is a photographer
and daughter of the filmmaker Antonio del Amo, who has gone down in history as the director of Joselito's most famous films of the 50s, such as
The Little Nightingale and The Little Colonel
.
Del Amo was also a film critic in the 1930s and a documentary filmmaker for the Republican side during the civil war.
He brought to the big screen stories written by his friend the
screenwriter Manuel Mur Oti
(
Four women and The guest of darkness)
and won the Golden Shell at the San Sebastián Festival in 1954 for the band Sierra maldita.
He is also remembered for directing
Antonio Molina
in El pescador de coplas (1952) and
Raphael
in
Las gemelas
(1963).
Ruy Sorogoyen, trained in
Seventh Ars, at the NIC and at the ECAM
, is loyal to his family, but also to his partner and friends when it comes to working.
His girlfriend, actress
Marta Nieto
(with whom he appeared on screen in HBO's En casa), is the star of his acclaimed film (and short) Madre.
His trusted scriptwriter is Isabel Peña
(Stockholm, May God forgive us, The Kingdom, Mother
[the long one],
Anti-riot
) and his fetish actors, two of his intimate friends:
Roberto Álamo and Antonio de la Torre
.
Always repeat with them and this step will never lack work.
