It is in a climate of tension between the opposition and the authorities that Côte d'Ivoire is preparing for the announcement of the final results of the presidential election which will be held by the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) from Abidjan and should take place this Monday.

On Sunday, the opposition called for a "civil transition" for a new "just" presidential election.

For its part, the ruling party in Côte d'Ivoire has warned the opposition against any "attempt to destabilize".

To fight against the propagatin of "Fake News", the electoral body specifies that "the official information of the presidential poll are those verified and communicated by the CEI to the RTI (editor's note the Ivorian Radio Television) on their official accounts".

The balance sheet of violence difficult to establish

On Saturday, the first round of the presidential election in Côte d'Ivoire boycotted by the opposition was peppered with incidents and violence.

According to Indigo, an Ivorian NGO which had deployed observers throughout the country, "23% of polling stations remained closed all day."

The France 24 team in Abidjan tried to verify a lot of information that has reached it.

"We contacted a police spokesperson who told us that he will not take stock until the situation in the country has calmed down. We also spoke with observers who returned to Abidjan and who took a long time to reach the economic capital because of numerous roadblocks, ”Meriem Amellal said.
