If there is at least one thing that normally happens at the beginning of November, it is the installation of the large Christmas tree on Place Kléber in Strasbourg.

So normal that the onlookers who came early this morning were almost as numerous as usual.

The fir, which seems straight and well supplied with branches, was cut in the Walscheid massif, in Moselle.

He is a beautiful "baby", still sixty years old.

It measures nearly 30 meters high and weighs 6.5 tonnes, explained Guillaume Libsig, pilot of the “Strasbourg, capital of Christmas” event.

For a total budget (excluding decoration) of 60,000 euros.

The Christmas survivor

This year more than any other, the installation of the Christmas tree sounded like an act of resistance in the face of gloomy surroundings.

The survivor of the Christmas holidays will be illuminated as will the whole of Place Kléber, Aubette in particular.

All for a budget of 180,000 euros.

Launch of the illuminations, which will take place this year without any particular event in order not to create a gathering, on November 28.
