China News Service, Hengyang, November 2 (Wang Haohao, Xu Zhixiong, Yang Huafeng) On November 2, the third-generation hybrid rice "Sanyou No. 1" Hunan Hengnan double-cropping late rice experimental demonstration base announced on-site production results, and its average yield per mu Reached 911.7 kg.

In addition, the average yield per mu of early rice measured in July this year was 619.06 kg, which means that the average yield per mu of the third-generation hybrid rice early and late double-cropping rice exceeded 1500 kg, reaching 1530.76 kg.

The hybrid rice cultivated by the expert team of "Father of Hybrid Rice" Yuan Longping, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, has now gone through three generations.

The third-generation hybrid rice began seed selection in 2011 and trial planting began in 2017. "Sanyou No. 1" is its excellent variety.

The production testing expert team comes from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, and the China Rice Research Institute.

In the early morning of the same day, the expert group drew lots and groups to harvest and measure the yield of three hybrid rice paddies. The experts who went down to the fields measured the area of the rice fields while drawing a ruler, and organized manpower to pick and harvest the ears of rice harvested by the harvester.

At about 12 noon, after a series of rigorous production testing procedures, the expert team announced the actual results: the first hill field measured 899 kilograms of dry grain, the second hill field measured 925.8 kilograms of dry grain, and the third hill field measured yield. Dry grain is 908.7 kg, and the average yield per mu of Sanqiu field is 911.7 kg.

In July of this year, the early rice high-yield research field in Hengnan Base was tested and accepted. The average early rice yield per mu was 619.06 kg.

The results of the late rice production test this time successfully achieved the goal of 1,500 kg per mu of double-cropping rice.

“From soaking and raising seedlings to planting irrigation, fertilizing, pest control, etc., I have participated in the management of the third generation hybrid rice growth process.” said Gan Zongheng, a senior agronomist from the Agriculture and Rural Bureau of Hengnan County. Planting on June 16th, transplanting from July 14th to 16th, the beginning of the earing period at the end of August, and the full earing period on September 6.

However, due to the long rainy time and low temperature, it did not enter the best harvest period until November.

After learning of the results of the production test, Yuan Longping, who watched the production test on live TV at the Hunan Hybrid Rice Research Center, was very excited. "I was very satisfied with the yield of 880 kg per mu before, but now it exceeds 900 kg. I am very satisfied. This is the result of everyone's joint efforts." Yuan Longping said that the annual yield of 3,000 kg per mu of hybrid rice double-cropped rice was first realized in Hunan. The "land of hybrid rice" is even more icing on the cake. "In the next step, we will promote Hengnan's experience across the country and make new contributions to national food security." (End)
