So this year, there is usually a lot of pressure on the bookings for the Christmas tables.

But the pandemic has led most Swedish companies and authorities to change their plans.

A survey conducted by SVT Nyheter shows that the majority have chosen not to have a Christmas table or Christmas celebration at all for employees this year.

The Swedish Social Insurance Agency, which has around 14,000 employees, cancels the Christmas celebrations in its departments.

 - We will not have any Christmas tables or Christmas parties this year due to the pandemic, says Anette Eriksson, press secretary at the Swedish Social Insurance Agency.

"In line with government directives"

At Skanska Sweden, there are also deviations from the traditions this year.

- As for Skanska Sweden, we normally have a Christmas table or similar activity, which can look a little different around the country.

In the current circumstances, in line with government directives, we recommend that you do not see in larger parties for Christmas dinners.

In this way, we contribute to reducing the risk of infection spreading, says Olle Lundgren, Head of Communications at Skanska Sweden.

The Swedish white goods giant Electrolux is not planning any Christmas celebrations for the employees either.

- This year we will not arrange a Christmas party for the employees, which we usually do, says Åsa Öhman, press and communications manager at Electrolux.

"50 percent dropout"

Wärdshuset Ulla Winbladh at Djurgården in Stockholm has noticed a sharp reduction in bookings for this year's Christmas table.

- There is a huge difference.

That is about a 50 percent dropout from other years.

And it is above all the companies that do not book, says Hanna Williamsson, restaurant manager at Ulla Winbladh.

The pandemic has forced restaurants to make major adjustments, leading to increased costs and reduced revenues.

In addition to the fact that 40 percent of the tables have been removed and fewer guests are admitted, several buffets are also set up, says Hanna Williamsson.

- It is a shared responsibility and we do what we can.

But the responsibility also lies with you as a guest.

If you are ill or have the slightest symptoms, we of course do not want you to come to us.
