The Director of the Early Childhood Department at the Sharjah Education Council, Maryam Jaber Al Shamsi, revealed to "Emirates Today" the reopening of the first government nursery at the level of the emirate, yesterday, after the closure of all nurseries since the start of the "Corona" pandemic.

She stated that the council stipulated that the attendance rate of children in each nursery should not exceed 40%, and that there should not be more than 10 children in the group.

She confirmed the opening of the rest of the nurseries in four stages, the first includes the opening of four nurseries during the current month, starting with receiving children in the first week with two nurseries in Qulaia and Riffa, while the second week is devoted to monitoring the performance in the two nurseries, before gradually opening the nurseries, to open two other nurseries in the Kalba and Al-Thamid areas. The number covered by the opening decision increases later, based on the results of monitoring, until the full number of nurseries is reached.

It indicated that it was decided to reopen the nurseries last October, but the concerned authorities directed the completion of the precautionary measures and checks for Corona for the cadres working in the nurseries, noting that «the number of nurseries, which will open until the end of this year, amounts to 24 nurseries, as for the existing nurseries. In government departments, the decision to open them will depend on the situation and directives of the department.

Al Shamsi pointed out that the Council sent a questionnaire to parents to find out their views on the decision to reopen nurseries, to find out the extent of their acceptance of the idea of their children returning to nursery, which included the procedures that will be followed to preserve the safety of children, and the requirements that they must provide, such as shoes, special cover and sterilization.

She said that the "group system" prevents the spread of the virus in the event of a student being infected, because it depends on dividing children into groups, so that the child eats, practices and teaches within the class or group to which he belongs, and when an infection appears in one of the groups, only children in the group are subject to examination. Corona »to ensure their safety, pointing out that the nursery will not be closed in the event that an infection with the virus appears.

She said that the council provided a room in every nursery to isolate anyone suspected of having "Corona" or showing symptoms.

She indicated that the opening of nurseries came after completing the preventive measures and requirements to prevent the spread of the Corona virus, including examining the cadres working in nurseries periodically every two weeks, allocating an area for parents to receive and delivering children in every nursery, preparing a guide (such as the periodic sterilization mechanism), and establishing Protocols for dealing with children in the event of an infection.

She explained that there are several challenges that nurseries may encounter, the most prominent of which is the acceptance of the child returning to nursery after sitting for a long time at home with his family, and the idea of his parents not entering the nursery.

She emphasized that the safety of children is a priority, calling on parents to ensure the safety of the child before taking him to nursery, and to inform the nursery immediately in the event of any health symptoms appearing, or in the event that the child comes into contact with people with "Covid-19" disease, noting that children who suffer from health conditions They are not allowed to return to the nursery, as they will undergo temperature checks before entering the nurseries to ensure their safety.

Registration in nurseries
