The statues of the republican ministers and socialist leaders Indalecio Prieto and Francisco Largo Caballero, located in the Nuevos Ministerios area, have been the object of a new attack with red paint and the word "murderer" can be read at the base of the first one.
It is denounced in two tweets by the PSOE and the vice president and minister for the Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, who accompany their texts of the photographs that testify to it of the two historical leaders.
The last of these actions,
which are recurrent over time, took place on October 16 against the bust of Largo Caballero.
Teresa Ribera wonders in her Twitter message "What kind of society do those who play to cloud and violate the democratic values of our society want.
They will find us in front, defending them again. #LargoCaballero #IndalecioPrieto".
The PSOE points out, for its part, that these actions "will not be able to silence us. They will not get hatred to permeate our society. # NoPasarán!"
On October 15, in compliance with a resolution approved in the plenary session of the Madrid City Council, the Largo Caballero plaque was removed in the Plaza de Chamberí, a matter for which the PSOE and Madrid announced their intention to go to court.
In addition, at the end of September, the José Luis Martínez-Almeida City Council decided to remove the streets to Largo Caballero, president of the Republic (1936-1937) during the Civil War and Indalecio Prieto, by supporting PP and Cs an initiative of Vox, making use of the historical memory law approved by the Government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
Two weeks later, the deputy mayor of Madrid and leader of Citizens in the capital, Begoña Villacís, announced that from now on her group would not vote on any initiative on historical memory that is presented at City Hall because her party - she said - does not feel like an "heir on neither side. "
