On Saturday, Armenia called on Russia to begin consultations to determine the nature and amount of assistance the Russian Federation could provide to Armenia to ensure its security, in the words used by the Russian Federation. Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Struggling to contain the advance of the Azerbaijani army on the separatist territory of Nagorno-Karabakh that it is trying to protect, Armenia dreams more than ever of a Russian military intervention to cut short the conflict.

Moscow and Yerevan are linked by security agreements which provide for Russian military intervention in the event of an attack on the integrity of Armenia.

The Foreign Ministry recalls that Russia will only intervene if Armenia is threatened.
