The spread of covid-19 in Stockholm County has increased sharply in the past week, which also means that more and more people are testing themselves for ongoing infection.

But healthcare does not have time for all tests.

The waiting times can be long.

Chief physician Elda Sparrelid therefore says that there are now two very important pieces of advice:

- Only try if you have symptoms.

If you have symptoms but have to wait for the opportunity to take a sample, you must stay at home so as not to risk infecting others, says chief physician Elda Sparrelid.

There are more and more cases of covid cases in the county, last week the cases doubled compared to the week before, and more and more people are also admitted to hospital.

Some groups are prioritized

- Just as the need for care is increasing now, so is the pressure on sampling capacity and everyone is working intensively to meet the needs.

Sampling primarily prioritizes patients, residents at SÄBO and staff, says Elda Sparrelid.

During week 43, 37,540 tests for ongoing covid-19 were analyzed.

Of these, 8.4 percent test results were positive, a marked increase compared to the week before.

- We understand that it is frustrating to wait for the opportunity to try, but as long as everyone who has symptoms adheres strictly to the guidelines and stays at home, there is no risk of infecting others.

Those who have more severe symptoms should, as usual, contact 1177 for advice on how and where to seek care, says Elda Sparrelid.
