A young Korean businessman who has taught kimchi in the United States was murdered at home by a bully, and the local police investigated it.

According to Portland Police and local media in Oregon on the 31st (local time), Matthew Choi, 33, who ran a company called'Choi's Kimchi' in Portland, broke into his house at dawn on the 25th. Was injured and killed by a weapon.

The killer wasn't caught, and the police are chasing a black man as a suspect.

After majoring in business administration and sports management at the University of Oregon, Choi founded'Choi Gane Kimchi' with his mother in 2011.

He succeeded in promoting kimchi in Portland and other regions with this brand created after his surname.

Choi Gane Kimchi's white kimchi won the 2016 U.S.'Good Food Awards' in the pickled vegetables category, and seasoned kimchi is sold all over the country.

One local media reported that the success was attributed to changing recipes from mother's house to suit local tastes.

In a memorial post posted on the website, Choi Gane Kimchi said, "For Matthew Choi, kimchi was not just a work, but a passion, family, and culture. He loved being a member of the food industry and gave wisdom and advice to other local businessmen. Has been delivered."

The'Portland Farmers Market', where Mr. Choi made and sold kimchi in the early days of his business, also praised his Instagram memorial, saying, "He was a person with a pleasant, broad mind and extensive knowledge in food production."
