New serious bloodshed in Lyon: Orthodox priest injured.

Reason still unclear

Nikolaos Kakavelakis, the 52-year-old Orthodox priest who was shot twice yesterday afternoon in Lyon, is in serious condition.

The public prosecutor, Nicolas Jacquet, recently announced that there is a suspect under interrogation.

"Checks are underway on his possible involvement," he said.

The reason for the attack is still unclear.

The prosecutor has opened an investigation for attempted murder, has made it known that it does not exclude any hypothesis but for now the anti-terrorism prosecutor has not been entrusted with the case.
