Australia,

no cases of local infection of Covid-19 have been recorded, for the first time since June.

This was announced by the Minister of Health, Greg Hunt.

We have to go back to 9 June to find a zero in the new cases in the country.

Since then, an outbreak in the state of Victoria has led authorities to enact a strict lockdown and curfew for Melbourne's five million inhabitants.

"Thank you to everyone for our fantastic system, to the healthcare professionals and especially to the Australian people," cheered Hunt on Twitter.

A limited number of cases have been registered in the forty border centers that welcome travelers from abroad.

In Australia, there are currently around 200 active cases of coronavirus, of the 257,500 registered and 907 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

The lockdown in Melbourne has been lifted and restaurants, bars and shops have begun to reopen as closures return to the heart of Europe.
