A ceremony without an audience

The ceremony began shortly after 6 p.m., a few minutes late.

A "rite of reparation", which takes place after a sacrilege or after blood has been shed in a holy place, has been organized.

This blessing enables the desecrated church to be worshiped.

The Bishop of Nice turned around the building to bless it, then the light was turned off to be turned on after the Litany of Saints.

The All Saints' Mass then began.

The people of Nice who moved are quartered behind barriers, several tens of meters from the basilica.

"The problem is, it can start again"

"It's my parish. We knew Vincent well (the sacristan, among the victims of the attack, editor's note). He had been there for ten years. I have great sorrow. In addition, he is a young dad. It upset me. Especially the tragic way it happened. It's horrible, "Regine laments.

"It is important to pay tribute to these people who disappeared, who lived peacefully, who had a family life, a job. The problem is that it can start again", continues Helena.

The tribute paid on Sunday lasted 1h30, in the presence of the families of the victims.
