According to the acceptance conclusion, the construction tasks of the Three Gorges Project have been fully completed, the quality of the project meets the specifications and design requirements, the overall performance is excellent, the operation continues to be in good condition, and the comprehensive benefits of flood control, power generation, shipping, and water resources utilization are fully utilized.

  The Three Gorges Project is by far the largest water conservancy project in the world and the hydropower project with the most comprehensive benefits.

The monitoring showed that the main buildings such as the barrage dam, flood discharge and energy dissipation, water diversion and power generation, navigation and Maopingxi protection project are in normal working condition, and the mechanical and electrical systems and equipment, metal structure equipment are operating safely and stably.

  In terms of flood control, from the impoundment to the end of August 2020, the total amount of flood interception in the Three Gorges Reservoir exceeded 180 billion cubic meters.

In 2010, 2012, and 2020, the maximum flood peak of the reservoir exceeded 70,000 cubic meters per second. After the reservoir was blocked, the flood peak was reduced by about 40%, which greatly reduced the flood control pressure in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

  In terms of power generation, the Three Gorges Power Station is the hydropower station with the largest total installed capacity in the world. The power transmission and transformation project is responsible for the power transmission of all units of the Three Gorges Power Station.

As of the end of August 2020, the Three Gorges Power Station had a cumulative power generation of 1354.1 billion kWh, which strongly supported the power supply in East China, Central China, and Guangdong, and became an important large-scale clean energy production base in my country.

  In terms of shipping, the Three Gorges Project has significantly improved the navigation conditions of the Chuanjiang Channel. Since the Tri Gorges ship lock was opened for navigation in June 2003, the volume of freight passing through the lock has increased rapidly. In 2011, it exceeded 100 million tons for the first time and reached 146 million tons in 2019.

As of the end of August 2020, a total of 1.483 billion tons of freight has passed through the gate, which has strongly promoted the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

  In terms of water resource utilization, the annual discharge flow of the Three Gorges Reservoir in the dry season has increased to more than 5,500 cubic meters per second, replenishing more than 20 billion cubic meters of water for the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.   In terms of ecology and environmental protection, as of the end of August 2020, the high-quality clean power generated by the Three Gorges Power Station is equivalent to saving 430 million tons of standard coal, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1.169 billion tons, and saving energy and reducing emissions.

  A total of 1.3103 million urban and rural immigrants were relocated and resettled in the resettlement project under the construction of the Three Gorges Project. The acceptance conclusion shows that the production and living conditions of the immigrants have been significantly improved, and the infrastructure and public service facilities in the reservoir area have achieved leapfrog development. The geological environment of the resettlement area is generally safe, and the ecological environment quality of the reservoir area is generally good.
