On All Saints' Day, November 1, the attendance limit at public gatherings is raised from 50 to 300 people in Halland.

This includes visitors to, for example, cultural events, sports competitions and masses in the church.

- In the larger churches you can increase by a little more, but I have a hard time seeing that you can accommodate 200-300 people.

The entrances are like bottlenecks when everyone has to enter at the same time, and then you can not take in 300 people even if the church inside can take more, says Torgny Lindén, the Church of Sweden's press secretary at the diocese of Gothenburg.

New solutions to welcome more people

Instead of organizing masses with a lot of people, many congregations in Halland are investing in increasing the number of services instead.

- In several places, the services are doubled so that more people can come.

For those who do not get a place inside the church, or for other reasons choose not to attend the services, support will be offered outside at the cemeteries.

- We will have staff out in the cemeteries.

There will be both deacons and priests in many congregations to meet people.

"Be sure to follow all the advice"

Inside the churches, they close off every other row of benches and urge everyone to keep their distance.

- I think it feels very safe and good that we are very careful to follow all advice.

At the same time, it is very sad to say no if there are too many, says Torgny Lindén, the Church of Sweden's press secretary at the diocese of Gothenburg.
