American singer Bruce Springsteen lent his voice and one of his songs for an advertisement for Joe Biden's campaign team, a strong sign of his support for the Democratic candidate three days before the presidential election.

This isn't the first time the American rock icon has waved in favor of the former vice president.

In August, he allowed Joe Biden to use the title "The Rising" to accompany a video montage released on the first day of the Democratic convention.

He has also publicly criticized Donald Trump, described as a "crook" and "a threat to our democracy".

In the commercial, which was set to premiere on Saturday, Bruce Springsteen highlights Joe Biden's roots and his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania, a key presidential state.

"Scranton, Pennsylvania. Here, success is not given. It is forged with sweat, guts and determination," starts the "Boss".

A thinly veiled reference to Donald Trump, whose millionaire father gave him a good part of his fortune during his lifetime.

"This place has not left him," says the 71-year-old rocker.

"It's more than where he came from, it's what he's fighting for."

The message, which was due to air Saturday night at a college football game, ends with a clip from "My Hometown", taken from what is arguably Bruce Springsteen's most famous album, "Born in the USA "(1984).
