Faced with the coronavirus epidemic, the French must again respect a confinement of at least four weeks, since Friday morning.

A situation which does not spare the members of the government, forced to adapt their daily life.

DECRYPTION

It is the re-containment for everyone, including the government, which must adapt its mode of operation in the face of the second wave of the coronavirus.

So even if, as for the French, the situation looks like a repetition of spring, the executive will work differently in the coming weeks.

No upheaval in the Council of Ministers

Note, first of all that since the first confinement, the Councils of Ministers have never regained their normal course: no more than six or seven ministers are physically present around the president, while all the others are in videoconference.

On this side, the operation will therefore not be upset.

"We got used to it," slips one of them.

All the interministerial meetings of more than six, they will be done remotely, despite the weariness of certain ministers who confide "no longer in power to zoom meetings".

Ministers who have received the following instruction from Matignon: official travel must be "limited", "only devoted to crisis management" and after authorization from the office of Prime Minister Jean Castex.

The goal is clear: to allow prefectures and other local state services to focus on the health crisis and not on government visits.

"We're going back in March"

As for ministerial cabinets, they will return to the spring mode of operation, with at least 50% of the workforce working from home.

"We are going back in March," slips an advisor.

"There will be few in the office, the only difference is that we wear masks."
