Austria announces second lockdown to combat the spread of "Corona" virus

Austria announced today the imposition of new precautionary measures and restrictions to curb the sharp rise in infections with the "Corona" virus, including curfews from eight in the evening until six in the morning.

Counselor Sebastian Kurz, Prime Minister of Austria, said that the implementation of the new measures will start from next Tuesday until the end of November.

The measures include restricting the exit of individuals from the homes except for some specific reasons, starting from eight at night until six in the morning, closing restaurants and cafes during the night, and limiting their work during the day to the service of sending requests.

The measures also include closing hotels and entertainment venues, preventing the organization of private and public events and celebrations, freezing most cultural and sports activities, and transferring studies in universities and the upper secondary level to a "remote" study system.

Counselor Curtis explained that the government had to take new measures to prevent the collapse of the health system after the decrease in the number of beds in intensive care units and the postponement of some surgeries, due to record increases in the number of people infected with the virus since the outbreak of the disease.

It is noteworthy that the number of daily infections with the Coronavirus has reached record numbers since the outbreak of the disease in Austria, and recently exceeded the barrier of five thousand cases per day.
