Actor Sean Connery, who played the role of James Bond in the spy film series '007', has died, the BBC reported.



Connery was born in 1930 and celebrated her 90th birthday on August 25th.



Connery, a British native, was the first to take on the role of James Bond in '007 Murder Number', the first film in the 007 series produced in 1962.



Connery starred in six of the 007 series.



In addition to the 007 series, Connery retired in 2006 after appearing in a number of films including'Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade' and'The Rock' in the 1990s.
