  • To prevent stunted fruits from ending up in the trash, the company based in Montrabé offers individuals and professionals to collect them for brewing in a special beer.

  • For 3 kilos of fruit, donors will be offered a bottle of beer.

  • Despite the re-containment, it is possible to drop off the fruit at the brewery using a contactless drive.

After chocolate beer, it is in another original anti-waste operation that the artisanal brewery Ice Breker Brewing is embarking on, located in Montrabé, near Toulouse.

It offers individuals and professionals to get rid of their overripe or damaged fruit in exchange for free beer.

The fruits collected during this operation, called "Bring back your strawberries", which continues until November 16, will be reused for a special vintage.

All fruits are welcome

"It started with a finding, particularly in urban areas where people do not have a composter for organic waste and are forced to throw away soft fruit when they can have a new life," says Anne-Sophie. Bigot, co-founder of the brewery.

For three days, we have already collected a lot of seasonal fruits such as slightly blackened bananas, grapes and apples, but all the fruits can be used for making our beer.

And to motivate people to bring us their stunted fruit, we offer them a bottle of beer for 3 kg of fruit ”.

Once harvested, blackened bananas, faded pears or stunted strawberries will therefore be mashed into a puree, frozen and then incorporated into a special annual cuvée of fruit beer.

A part will be brewed in November to be marketed before the end of year celebrations, the other part will be aged in barrels without an exact date of sale.

Operation maintained during containment

Despite the re-containment, the brewery has decided to maintain collection during the non-contact drive hours at the brewery, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

From 5 kg of fruit, the brewery offers to come and collect them directly.

In the exceptional vintage section, Ice Breaker Brewing is not at its first attempt since the company had already created a chocolate beer in the spring from leftover pastries.
