- First I raised my eyebrows to say the least.

After a while, I understood that this is a theoretical calculation example, says Norrköping's municipal councilor Lars Stjernkvist (S).

The background is that in June the Swedish Transport Administration was commissioned by the government to calculate what it would cost to build a high-speed railway on the Stockholm-Gothenburg and Stockholm-Malmö sections.

One limitation, however, was that the cost could not exceed SEK 205 billion.

Proposals are presented in the PM

After that, the Swedish Transport Administration has made calculations and in a memorandum, the current proposal is shown compared with three investigation alternatives.

The document has been prepared for a number of hearings next week with, among others, municipalities and regions.

In all three new alternatives, Norrköping and Linköping will be affected.

The railway would have to be laid in such a way that new stations would have to be built outside the cities themselves.

In today's proposal for Ostlänken, the railway takes a turn into central Norrköping.

For Linköping, various alternatives have so far been discussed, but in the current document, the station would need to be built completely outside the city.
