Spanish coach Pep Guardiola has confirmed that he does not intend to leave Manchester City and return to Barcelona, after the candidate for the presidency of the Spanish club announced his desire to return Guardiola to the Camp Nou.
And there is one year left in Guardiola's contract with City.
Font said he wanted the Spanish coach to work with star Lionel Messi to ensure the Argentine striker continues with the team beyond 2021.
Guardiola spent 4 seasons coaching Barcelona, winning 3 league titles in addition to two Champions League titles before leaving in 2012.
The Spanish coach - who expressed his desire to extend his contract with City - told reporters before facing host Sheffield United on Saturday, "I am very happy in Manchester and I hope to do well this season to continue for a longer period."
City started the season poorly and is 13th in the Premier League, 5 points behind leaders Everton.
