No confinement for justice.

While France is reconfigured from this Friday, the courts will remain open in France and all judicial activity will be maintained there, reassured the Minister of Justice Eric Dupond-Moretti.

Emmanuel Macron announced Wednesday a new confinement of the population for at least four weeks but "specified that the public services will have to continue to function", recalls the Minister of Justice in a video message addressed to the 84,000 agents of the ministry.

Additional precautions

In the spring, during the first confinement, judicial activity was reduced to civil and criminal emergencies, resulting in the referral of thousands of non-priority cases.

"In the jurisdictions, the BCPs (business continuity plans) which reduce the activity to essential functions will not be activated, but a certain number of precautions will have to be taken", explains the Minister.

“Thus, the unique reception services for litigants will remain open but by making an appointment.

Jurisdictional activity will be maintained in the presence of duly summoned persons but with strict respect for distancing and barrier gestures, ”explains Eric Dupond-Moretti.

He adds that he asked his services "to complete as quickly as possible the planned deployment plan for laptops in order to allow as many of you as possible to exercise their professional activity remotely, when possible."

In prison, visiting rooms maintained

In prisons, "a subject of concern given the increase in the number of people imprisoned" in recent weeks, "compliance with health measures does not lead to questioning living conditions such as visiting rooms or working in detention. », Assures the minister.

During the first period of confinement, all visiting rooms and activities had been suspended, causing mutinies and incidents in some prisons.

"We must all together, members of the same ministry, maintain confidence in the future and live up to the expectations of the French who - especially in this difficult period - cannot do without the public service of justice", concludes Eric Dupond- Moretti.
