14 "radicalized" foreigners expelled from France since the end of September according to Darmanin

Fourteen "radicalized" illegal foreigners have been "expelled" from France since the end of September, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said on RTL on Friday, the day after the Nice attack.

"For a month, I have had 14 expulsions," said the minister, questioned after the fatal knife attack that killed three people in the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption basilica in Nice Thursday morning.

These 14 people expelled since "the end of September" were registered in the file of reports for the prevention of terrorist radicalization (FSPRT), the minister's entourage told AFP.

Different nationalities among the expelled 

Four of them were of Tunisian nationality, the others were Russian, Algerian, Iraqi, Georgian, Bangladeshi or even Moroccan, explained his entourage.

"If we have to fight against radicalized foreigners, this is not the case with this terrorist," added Gérald Darmanin, referring to the alleged perpetrator of the attack, a 21-year-old Tunisian who arrived in France in October by the Italy.

He "was not known in any of the files, French or European", he repeated.

"In the last 30 terrorists who assassinated, killed on our soil, 22 are French. And their profile is very diverse," said the Minister of the Interior.

In mid-October, he said that France had 231 foreigners in an irregular situation on its territory, followed for radicalization "that we must expel".

Among them, 180 were incarcerated.

At that date, 851 illegal immigrants were registered with the FSPRT.
