The Corona pandemic has exacerbated the suffering of children who roam the streets of Karbala (south of Baghdad) to sell paper napkins or other small items, after they have become an increasing public scene throughout the city, as part of their attempts to provide for some of the needs of their families, whose bones are riven by poverty.

The current circumstances have prompted local charities to help street children by working to provide opportunities for their education and entertainment, and to help their families at the same time.

Amir Hassan, a volunteer at the "Rahma Among Them" association, said that many families are forced to push their children to work at an early age due to economic pressures, especially the recent period after the spread of Corona.

The association - which was established in 2017 - seeks to work to provide safe places for these children in which they can get an education, practice activities and learn useful skills.
