For over 20 years, the National Forensic Center, NFC, has had a limit value for DNA analyzes - which has resulted in large amounts of incompletely analyzed DNA traces being stored away in a freezer.

Traces that could contribute to the conviction of criminals or free wrongly designated.

- There is only one reaction you can have: that you think it is terrible, says Johan Eriksson who is one of Sweden's most reputable criminal lawyers.

Hard blow for relatives

According to him, the NFC's actions are unknown in the legal chain.

- I think I have a reasonable experience and am also very interested in forensics, I have no knowledge of this.

Had that knowledge existed among the prosecutors, they would not have accepted it.

For relatives of someone who has been murdered, and who has witnessed the accused being acquitted by the court, this can be a severe blow, according to Johan Eriksson.

He believes that those responsible for the police must contact the Minister of Justice Morgan Johansson (S) immediately to draw up an action plan.

- I hope and believe that there will be an immediate reaction.
