Prison officers suffered temporary incapacity for work lasting several days.

On Wednesday, four guards of the Saint-Quentin-Fallavier prison, in Isère, were injured after being assaulted by a detainee, we learned this Thursday from Ufap-Unsa Justice.

The man reportedly began to fidget and rebel back from his walk when the officers asked him to go through the metal detection portal he had just triggered.

Back in his cell, the detainee was "notified of a measure of good order justified by his reprehensible behavior," said the union in a statement.

He then allegedly insulted a supervisor before punching her in the face.

Then he allegedly attacked a second guard, hitting him in the face as well, and biting another officer's ear until blood.

"Rapid disciplinary treatment" demanded

Once under control, the detainee was placed in a disciplinary cell and the four injured officers were transported to hospital.

Following this attack, the union asked the prison management "that this new act of violence be punished in an exemplary manner by an administrative response commensurate with the gravity of the facts".

In particular, he called for "rapid and dissuasive disciplinary treatment with the addition of a short-term transfer of the author".
