Abla, Samia and Asma, 3 Egyptian women who chose to volunteer in their own way, as they established a guesthouse to care for cancer patients who flock to Cairo to receive treatment.

The Dar Foundation, Abla Sarhan, says that she agreed with her two friends to do charitable work after reaching the retirement age from work, as they refused to stay at home without working affecting society.

She explained that the house provides a car for free as well to deliver patients to the hospital daily, and it also seeks to provide free treatment, but its financial capacity does not enable it to provide it in full.

In turn, Al Hajjah Samia says that most of the cancer patients are poor, and they come from distant provinces for a large fee, which exacerbates their pain, as disease, poverty, travel and treatment costs combine.

She explains that many patients were on the ground in front of the oncology institute waiting for treatment, as they did not have the exorbitant accommodation costs in Cairo, so the idea of the home came to host patients free of charge during the treatment period.

The diligent work of serving the patients resulted in the expansion of the house, as donors contributed to a new headquarters for the house that was also designated for men, according to Asma Othman, vice president of the "Nahr al-Hob" house.

Mrs. Asma proudly explains that the home is currently receiving patients from all governorates of Egypt, and that the care provided is not limited to financial aspects only, but there is psychological care and moral support for patients.

To try to beat the disease.
