- It was fights and an audience that stormed the pitch, says one of the night walkers Vivi Darla, who is responsible for values in Västerhaninge IF.

Get paid by the municipality

Night walks have previously been an uncertain card in Haninge, as the initiatives were more personal.

In order to increase security in the area, the municipality has therefore invested in sports associations - which will spend the night for a fee of SEK 2,000 per occasion.

- The night hikes were previously based on a few committed individuals and when they ended, everything often fell, says Anen Makboul at Haninge prevention team.

Anen Makboul believes that sports leaders are often also good social workers and through the financial contribution, the night walks become something that both associations and the municipality benefit from.

“Getting to know the young people”

After the incidents with fights and storming of the field, Västhaninge IF contacted the municipal police for tips and advice.

The police then suggested preventive work and especially night walks.

- We have gotten to know the young people better and leaders and parents have gotten to know each other better.

Now the night walks are part of the association's values, says Vivi Darla at Västerhaninge IF.
