October 29, 2020 - The United States recorded 75,468 new infections and 1,000 deaths from Covid in the last 24 hours.

According to the calculations of Johns Hopkins University, the total number of positive cases thus rises to 8,848,875, while deaths reach 227,604.

The state of New York remains the one with the most victims: since the beginning of the pandemic, 33,435 people have died of the coronavirus.

In New York City alone, there were 23,980 deaths.



Brazil, 510 deaths and 28629 infections in 24 hours


Still a very heavy toll on the health emergency in Brazil where yesterday, 510 new deaths were recorded due to Covid-19, for a total now reached 158,456 victims since the onset of the disease, according to data from the Ministry of health.

28,629 new infections were also reported, with a total of confirmed infections in the country reaching 5,468,270.

Brazil is the second country with the highest number of coronavirus deaths in the world, behind only the United States, and the third in terms of infections, under the US and India.

Despite this, in recent weeks the pandemic has slowed in Brazil from the peak reached at the end of July, when over 50,000 new cases and over 1,000 deaths have been calculated every day.



The official death toll caused by the coronavirus in Mexico has exceeded 90 thousand: according to what the Ministry of Health has announced, yesterday the country recorded another 495 deaths, for a total of at least 90,308 victims since the beginning of the pandemic.

According to Johns Hopkins University, Mexico ranks fourth in the world ranking of deaths after the USA, Brazil and India.

However, local health officials have indicated in recent days that 50,000 more people have probably died from the virus in the country than the official figure, explaining that many deaths are not included in the government count due to the lack of tests.

At the same time, Mexico yesterday recorded 5,595 new infections, a figure that brings the overall toll of infections to 906,863.



Argentina, over 30 thousand deaths


Argentina has recorded another 345 deaths related to the coronavirus pandemic in the last 24 hours, reaching 30,071.

This is what emerges from the latest report by the health authorities in Buenos Aires.

At the same time there were 13,924 positive cases, raising the toll of the infected eight-month Covid-19 emergency to 1,130,533.

There are 5,037 people hospitalized in intensive care, with a percentage of occupancy of the beds in this sector of 64.2% throughout the country and 62.5% in the metropolitan area of ​​Buenos Aires.

An alarm has been reported concerning four Argentine provinces (Neuquén, Río Negro, Tucumán and Santa Fe) which have exceeded 80% of the occupancy of the most serious patients' beds.   



According to the health authorities, 35% of cases are concentrated in Buenos Aires and the province.

The Ministry of Health in Buenos Aires has announced that preparations are beginning to plan a large-scale vaccination that could begin with the most at-risk cases in the populous province of the capital, before the end of the year.



In India, over 8 million infections


India exceeds 8 million coronavirus cases with 8,040,203 infections (Johns Hopkins University data) but with a worrying growth trend that brings the sub-continent closer to the United States, at 8,856. 689 infections.

Of particular concern is the arrival of the Hindu festival season and winter.

Victims are also growing: according to the Indian Ministry of Health, in the last 24 hours there have been 49,881 infections and 517 deaths, which brings the death toll to 120,527.

Life in India is returning to pre-virus levels with the reopening of shops, businesses, the subway and cinemas and the country's third largest state, Bihar, with a population of around 122 million called to vote.
