After averting the hammer attack and inflicting damage on the attacker, the Chechen-critical blogger posted a video in which he tells what happened.

The blogger also published a clip in which he asks the man who is in custody on suspicion of attempted murder.

- It is the plaintiff's free right to do so if he wants.

It is clear that it can complicate the preliminary investigation, but we must like the situation, says prosecutor Therese Stensson.

"Is there a threat to the blogger"

In Germany and France, two other critics of the Chechen regime have been assassinated since last summer.

And Michael Runey of the human rights organization Civil right defenders confirms that there is a threat to the blogger who was attacked in Andersberg.

"He is one of the most popular blogs critical of the government and the leader of the Chechen government has been very public with his desire that he either return to Chechnya to receive some kind of punishment or that it be enforced outside the country's borders," says Michael. Runey.

The prosecutor believes that the state of evidence is good when it comes to what happened in the apartment, but that a lot of work remains with the preliminary investigation.

- Both the plaintiff and the suspect are from another country and there is information that this has to do with situations in the home country, says Therese Stensson.
