Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris opened a door for controversy on social media, with a tweet in which he said that it was time to get rid of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and some saw him inciting sectarianism and calling for killing and coups.

Sawiris did not provide additional details in his tweet, but it had a great interaction on Twitter between supporters and opponents.

Time to get rid of Erdogan !!

- Naguib Sawiris (@NaguibSawiris) October 27, 2020

This tweet coincides with hypothetical attacks that Twitter has been witnessing for days against Turkey in Egypt and Gulf countries, and it calls for a boycott of Turkish goods.

It also comes at a time when the media is highlighting the exchange of accusations between Erdogan and European leaders, especially after Erdogan said on Sunday that "the French President (Emmanuel Macron) suffers from an illness and has to undergo a medical test."

The Turkish president had previously attacked his French counterpart, who defended what he considered freedom of expression by publishing cartoons insulting to the Messenger Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace.

The pioneers of the communication sites launched a scathing attack on the Egyptian businessman, accusing him of inciting the killing of the Turkish president or a coup against him, and some of them called for an investigation, indicating that he is immune to any measures due to his influence and the identification of his positions with the policy of the Egyptian regime.

Others pointed out that the Sawiris attack was purely religious, and his hostility to Erdogan stemmed from the Turkish President's defense of the Islamic religion and his positions regarding France's recent offenses.

The former Tunisian presidential candidate, Muhammad al-Hachemi al-Hamdi, commented on Sawiris’s tweet, calling on him to condemn the cartoons insulting to the Holy Prophet.

Until you condemn the cartoons offensive to the Prophet of 90 million of your citizens in Egypt, and Macron defended it and adhered to it, who guarantees that you are not from the current of Islamophobia, Mr. Naguib Sawiris?

This current that seeks to distort Islam and spread hatred against Muslims?

Just a question awaits your answer.

As for the singer Maryam Jamal, she said that it is time to get rid of people who only care about money.

It's time to get rid of people like u, who care about nothing except money, people who don't care about their religion and beliefs, people who don't care if their prophet Muhammad was insulted by damned France president, At least Erdogan defended His prophet not like u # Ella-Messenger of Allah https://t.co/dYbZTvzL9r

The Palestinian writer Yasser Zaatarah attacked Sawiris, describing it as sectarian.

Naguib Sawiris: The time has come to get rid of # Erdogan.

Naguib Sawiris was not satisfied with nudity festivals, not evading taxes and stealing the money of the Egyptian people, but explicitly inciting the West to get rid of Erdogan for his defense of the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace!

Activist Emad Suleiman compared Sawiris’s attack on Erdogan with what any foreign tweet would face if he was exposed to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

If someone from outside I speak the text of a word about Sisi, the national race revises them and insults him on the pretext that he is interfering in the internal Egyptian affairs

Naguib Sawiris, a Christian terrorist ...

inciting to kill a Muslim president, "# Erdogan" ...!

Why did no one shout "No to mixing politics with religion"?

Why did no one accuse him of terrorism?

Would no one hold him accountable for inciting murder and spreading discord?

Why does he interfere in the affairs of Muslims in the first place! # Except_the Messenger of Allah # boycotting the products of France

And via Facebook, Mahmoud Jasur considered that Sawiris was inciting the killing of Erdogan for his defense of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.

And from the Turkish reactions, one of the tweeters considered that the Sawiris attack came because of Erdogan's defense of the right, adding that the hole that Sawiris was digging would fall in.
