Yesterday, the Tunisian authorities said that "the situation is very dangerous", with the total death toll from the Corona virus rising to 1150, and infections to about 55 thousand cases, amid expectations of tightening restrictions to stop the rapid spread of the epidemic.

Yesterday, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health, Nassaf Bin Aliya, said that the situation is "very dangerous", with 2,125 new infections and 52 deaths recorded within two days.

Medical sources revealed to «Reuters» that the intensive care departments in most public hospitals in the country have reached their maximum capacity, which reinforces fears of the state’s inability to deal with the epidemic.

The Director General of Health, Faisal bin Saleh, said in a press conference that the number of deaths is expected to double in the coming months.

He added that within hours, tightening restrictions will be announced to stop the spread of the virus, but he stressed that there will be no quarantine, given its high cost.

And this month, the authorities imposed an overnight curfew in the capital and other parts of the country, in an effort to slow the second wave of the virus.

The Prime Minister, Hisham El-Mechichi, said that the closure is not proposed due to the bad economic situation and its high cost, at a time when the country expects a record budget deficit of 14%.

There will be no quarantine, given its high cost.
