In April, when the City of Stockholm has an accelerating spread of covid-19 in elderly care, Assignment Review interviews assistant nurse Yohanna Munoz.

After a period of sick leave, she is back at work in a private nursing home.

An old woman is suspected of being infected.

- We had no protective clothing.

I did not go in there because I asked our boss to do a risk analysis.

Then she told me that "no we should not do that at all, we have already done that".

I said then you can go in yourself, and get her ready, because we have no equipment, we know nothing about corona, no one has education about this, says Yohanna Munoz.

“Neglect”

Yohanna Munoz says that the woman and two other people die at the residence.

How were they then, lately?

What is your opinion?

Neglect.

They did not receive the care they needed, which they were entitled to - because we were not enough.

I thought it was awful.

It was the staff nurses who worked.

Nobody knew anything.

Responsible: analyzes the spread of infection now

The accommodation where Yohanna Munoz works is run by the company Ansvar och Omsorg AB.

- We have always had protective equipment according to the Swedish Public Health Agency's recommendations, says Sakarias Mårdh, the company's CEO.

He says that the information that staff worked a whole weekend without equipment is not something he got, and that they are still analyzing what the spread of infection looked like in the business.

- Neglect is a very strong word and if it had occurred, it would according to our routines have generated deviation reports, we have not received any such deviation reports from the staff.

We have a good collaboration with Kommunal and we have the same task - to take care of the staff, says Sakarias Mårdh.
