The Dubai Health Authority stated that it conducted about 12,000 "Covid-19" tests in councils and malls, within one month of starting its work.

Al Jalila Children's Specialized Hospital announced that it has been chosen to participate in a global initiative under the umbrella of the United Nations, which aims to raise awareness and enhance confidence in the internationally expected "Covid-19" vaccine.

The Executive Director of the Supportive Medical Services and Nursing Services at the authority, Dr. Farida Al Khaja, told "Emirates Today" that the results of the laboratory tests do not exceed 24 hours.

She explained that the authority conducted the checks in the councils of Rashidiya, Hamriyah Port, and Jumeirah Port (1), and in the centers of "Mall of the Emirates", "Deira City Center", and "Mirdif City Center".

She emphasized that the authority’s move motivated a large number of visitors to the councils and commercial centers to conduct laboratory tests to check on their health and being free of "Covid-19".

She said that the authority responded to the high turnout at examination centers, particularly in commercial centers, where the pre-appointment date system was established for the examination, and everyone who visited the three commercial centers could reserve a role.

As for the councils in which the authority has designated centers for testing, in coordination with the Community Development Authority in Dubai, the mechanism for conducting the examination takes place at a prior appointment, by calling the authority's toll-free number (800342).

Al-Khaja explained that the results of the laboratory tests arrive within 24 hours, via a text message to the phone of the person who underwent the examination.

She emphasized that the turnout for examinations reflects the level of community awareness of the importance of preventive measures against "Covid-19", and the need to maintain public health.

She said that the turnout has witnessed a discrepancy between centers and councils, pointing out that "Mall of the Emirates" conducted 2,700 examinations, the Rashidiya Council had 2,200 examinations, and the Jumeirah Council had 2050 examinations.

It should be noted that the absorptive capacity and capabilities that the authority possesses in its medical facilities, in addition to the private health sector, allow more than 80,000 laboratory tests per day.

On the other hand, Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital stated that it has been chosen to participate, as part of a global initiative under the umbrella of the United Nations, which aims to raise awareness and enhance confidence in the internationally awaited "Covid-19" vaccine, called the "Team Halo" initiative.

The Director of the Hospital's Genome Center, and Associate Professor of Genetics at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Ahmed Aboution, is part of a group of scientists and experts from around the world in raising awareness of the initiative, via the TikTok platform.

Aboution said that the "Team Halo" initiative is a project to give confidence in the expected vaccine, and to involve millions of people around the world in the solidarity campaign with the international effort, in order to find safe and effective vaccines for the Coronavirus.

He continued: "The team is working with dozens of mentors who conduct research and trials of vaccines to create video content, with the aim of enhancing public confidence in the expected vaccine."

He pointed out that the top scientists participating in the race, to obtain a vaccine for the Corona virus, had gone to social media platforms, to tell the world about their stories about this new global initiative.

The #TeamHalo initiative launches to shed light on the everyday working lives of scientists in: the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, the United States of America, South Africa, India, Brazil, among others.

Aboution discovered the genetic sequence of the "Covid-19" virus in the UAE, to join this global initiative, to raise awareness of the country's efforts to find a safe and effective vaccine.
