Zakharova assessed the possible release of Russians in Libya

"Contacts on this issue have intensified, but it is too early to talk about any results," RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that the government of national accord of Libya may in the coming days release the Russians detained in the country - employees of the Fund for the Defense of National Values ​​(FZNTs) Maxim Shugalei and Samer Hasan Ali Sueifan.

According to agency sources, an agreement was reached with the Russian authorities last week. 

Shugalei and Sueifan were detained in Libya in 2019.

In the summer of 2020, it was reported that the Government of National Accord (PNC) of Libya transmitted written assurances to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the problem with the release of Russian citizens Maxim Shugalei and Samer Sueifan would be resolved in the near future.
