In Västra Götaland, the number of cases of infection increased by 1,374 last week, which is a doubling compared with the week before.

- I can not stress enough the general recommendations.

Stay at home with the slightest cold symptoms, try yourself, keep your distance from others, avoid larger social contexts, do not travel collectively if you do not have to and try to work from home if you can, says Thomas Wahlberg, infection control doctor for Region West, to SVT Nyheter Väst.

The situation in Stockholm follows the same pattern: 2,996 new cases of covid-19 were confirmed last week (week 43), which is close to doubling compared with the week before (week 42), when 1,657 new cases were found.

- It is increasing far too much.

We do not want to see such a large increase as it has now been.

This is a 70% increase from week 42 to 43, so now we are up in almost 3,000 cases in week 43, says Maria Rotzén Östlund, acting infection control doctor at the Stockholm Region, to TT.

Skåne tightens recommendations

In Skåne, the number of patients treated in hospitals has doubled in recent weeks and is now up to 54 people.

At the same time, the number of confirmed cases has increased by 242 since yesterday.

There, the region is now tightening its recommendations and urging Skåne residents to stay away from public transport and shopping centers.

Uppsala tightened the restrictions last week as a result of the spread of infection, and that tightening looks set to remain until at least 3 November.

- I would think so.

Basically, it depends on how the spread of infection develops.

It feels like we are on a plateau, that it does not continue to increase, but still it has increased in healthcare, says Governor Göran Enander to SVT Nyheter Uppsala.

Further statistics on the spread of infection in the regions can be found here.
