More than 60 million Americans have already voted in the United States, and of these more than 7.3 million are in Texas.

This state, which was among the last in 2016, is now at the top of the advance votes ahead of a state with a Democratic majority, California, and a pivot state, Florida.

By a week of November 3, 43% of Texas had already voted, only 8 points behind the total number of votes in the last presidential election.

Three counties, around Dallas and Austin, have already surpassed their 2016 total voters.

I think it's really a good thing to see all these people coming to do their electoral duty,

" said James Holian, who works for the Republican Party.

The United States really has a problem with the turnout.

I'm glad to see so many people expressing themselves

.

"

But at the same time, Republicans in Texas are trying to restrict access to the vote.

Jeronimo Cortina is professor of political science at the University of Houston: “

Many members of the Republican Party are worried about the increase in turnout during this presidential election.

According to them, this could have consequences.

 "

Each week a different court thus renders a new decision on the number of centers where one can cast his vote by mail, or on the right or not to vote from his car.

But as Lorena Perez Mc Gill, Democratic candidate for the regional parliament, observes, these restrictions have so far not been successful: "

It's more crowded than normal, but it should be like that every time. .

It's good that people are waking up and coming to vote in large numbers.

In Texas, early voting lasts until Saturday.
