The authorities of Belarus on Monday, October 26, announced that all enterprises in the country are operating normally.

This was stated by the press secretary of the Prime Minister of the republic, Alexander Isaev. 

“As of 10:00 on October 26, all enterprises of the real sector of the economy of the republic are working normally.

The production has not been stopped, as some Telegram channels present it, ”she wrote on her Facebook page.

This information was confirmed to RIA Novosti by the assistant to the Minister of Industry of Belarus Cheslav Shulga.

Earlier, some local Telegram channels, citing eyewitnesses, reported the start of strikes at a number of Belarusian enterprises.

In particular, it was alleged that work was suspended at the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant, Grodno Azot, Belkommunmash and others.

We will remind, on the eve of the ex-presidential candidate of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya in her Telegram channel said that in the country from October 26 "a nationwide strike will begin."

Prior to that, in mid-October, she announced that she was “presenting an ultimatum” to the Belarusian authorities, headed by the President of the Republic, Alexander Lukashenko.

Tihanovskaya demanded that Lukashenka "announce his resignation, stop violence in the streets and release political prisoners" by October 26.

She also stated that if these requirements are not met by October 25, "the whole country will peacefully take to the streets with a popular ultimatum." 

Representatives of the Minsk Tractor Plant (MTZ) told RIA Novosti that "the technological processes at the enterprise are not disturbed, the shops are working, the products are being shipped."

They added that the workers came to the plant, in all workshops at 7:00 the morning shift began.

The press secretary of the Belneftekhim concern, Alexander Tishchenko, said that a group of about 100 people tried to block the exit of Grodno Azot to replace workers.

“This morning, a group of up to 100 people tried unsuccessfully to block the exit of workers to shift.

Most of this group have nothing to do with the plant or the profession of a worker, ”he said.

The plant itself also confirmed that the work of the enterprise was not disturbed.

At the same time, the press service of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Grodno region confirmed that several people were detained near the “Grodno Azot”.

“Employees of the enterprise and people who do not belong to the employees of Grodno Azot gathered at the checkpoint.

The participants were asked to disperse or go to work.

Several people have been detained, an administrative process is underway in connection with their participation in an unauthorized event, ”the ministry said.

The press service of the Belarusian Automobile Plant (BelAZ) also confirmed full-time work, noting that it was "a normal Monday" at the enterprise.

The standard work was also reported at the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant, the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ), and the Belaruskali enterprise.

Minister of Industry of the country Petr Parkhomchik said that the calls for strikes did not cause economic damage to the enterprises of the republic.

According to him, on Monday the products were produced in normal mode and shipped to the consumer.

He also explained that the leaders held talks with workers on the eve of the likely riots, and at the enterprises themselves they increased the access control.

“Because some chats called for equipment breakdown, to disrupt some technological processes so that people who come to work on Monday could not fulfill their duties,” Sputnik Belarus quotes him.

  • Protest march in Minsk

At the same time, another protest march took place in Minsk.

According to RIA Novosti, the action was attended by Belarusian pensioners and students.

The action began on Independence Square, from where the demonstrators headed towards Victory Square.

It is clarified that the students took part in strikes near their universities, after which they walked the streets of the city and joined the pensioners.

The press secretary of the country's Ministry of Education, Lyudmila Vysotskaya, said that the educational process in the country was not disrupted, almost all students were present at the classes.

She stressed that the protests among the students were of a targeted nature.

In turn, a spokesman for the press service of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk City Executive Committee said that several people were detained during the demonstration, without specifying their exact number.

“There are people detained in Minsk during attempts to block the road and unauthorized actions,” he said.

Meanwhile, the press secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs Olga Chemodanova said that 19 protest actions were recorded in the country over the past day.

According to her, the law enforcement agencies noted isolated facts of radical actions: “Arson of car tires along Kalvariyskaya Street and M. Bogdanovich Street in Minsk, an attempt and arson of kiosks in Gomel”.

In addition, the day before, the head of the Minsk police, Ivan Kubrakov, said that the participants in an unauthorized protest action in Minsk had attacked a department of the Central District Department of Internal Affairs.

“The protesters attacked the central police department of Minsk: they started throwing stones at the service vehicles of the internal affairs bodies.

The police officers took measures to suppress illegal actions, used special means and physical force, ”he said.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic, more than 500 people were detained on Sunday during protests in the country.

"In total, 523 people were detained yesterday for violating the legislation on mass events, of which 160 were in Minsk," the ministry said in a statement.

Mass protests began in Belarus on the evening of August 9, after the preliminary results of the presidential elections held that day in the republic, in which Alexander Lukashenko won, became known.
