The Sharjah Public Works Department has completed a Friday market, another for livestock, a third for fish in the Al Bataih area, and a fodder market in the Al Madam area, at a total cost of 30 million dirhams, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to provide all requirements Citizens and their needs, and his directives to establish service facilities that contribute to the provision of commercial and consumer services aimed at improving civil society.

The head of the department, Engineer Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, said that these markets are part of the department's development plan to meet the needs of the municipal councils, pointing out that the Friday Market is inspired by the local heritage identity, which is an integral part of the emirate’s past, present and future, and is located in an important area. Next to the livestock and camel market and the municipality of Al-Bataih, and opposite Al-Bataih Public Park, it also borders vital neighborhoods and important markets, and borders Sharjah-Al Dhaid road, which is a vital artery.

Al-Suwaidi said: “The market area is 13,000 square meters, and it includes 15 shops, each with an area of ​​60 square meters, in addition to establishing 40 car parks and associated service buildings.”

The department has also completed a market for livestock, birds and camels in the Al-Bataih region in the central region, at a cost of 17 million dirhams, and the project, which covers an area of ​​37 thousand square meters, includes a market for livestock, birds and camels, and the project falls within the development plan of the department, to meet the needs of the municipal councils.

The market contains more than 23 pens dedicated to different types of livestock, to meet the needs of the population, and the area of ​​each store is 57 square meters, with a front yard that takes into account the culture of the buyer and seller, and is separated by a fence in front of each store, where many citizens prefer to choose their own sacrifices directly from the market, In addition to the camel market, which contains 21 hangars, each of which is 90 square meters, with a front yard open to the sky and separated by a fence.

The market also includes a building selling birds, which contains eight shops, each of which is 27 square meters.

The department completed a fish market in Al-Batayeh, and the fish market building includes a ground floor with an area of ​​810 square meters, and it consists of 16 fish shops, each shop’s area of ​​35 square meters, and a hall for cleaning and cutting fish, in addition to administrative offices, service rooms, toilets, and parking lots.

The department has completed the establishment of the feed and grain market in Al-Madam, which is designed in the traditional local style, and the market extends over an area of ​​8,000 square meters, and contains more than six buildings of various purposes, and includes 14 stores for the sale and storage of fodder, with a capacity of 4,500 cubic meters, and 11 shops for the sale of grain. With a capacity of 1000 cubic meters, and a number of other shops designated for rent, such as retail stores, a restaurant, a pharmacy, and an analysis laboratory.
