The autonomous communities will manage more than 50% of the European recovery funds.

Pedro Sánchez announced today that this is the projection made by the Government in the Telematic Conference of Presidents in which he participates from the Senate and in which the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has also intervened.

This meeting, which is held after the Government yesterday approved a new state of alarm, is currently very focused on the Recovery Plan, despite the pro-independence intervention that the acting president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragones, has had .

The chief executive has defended the key role in promoting Europe's funds to face the effects of the pandemic in which many of the key issues to which they will be dedicated such as housing, education, social policies, active employment policies or environment are autonomic competences.

"It will be in these areas where the communities will be able to execute the projects and programs that they present and are approved."

To do this, "Framework Agreements will be agreed between the involved ministries and the regions," say government sources.

On the other hand, sources of the autonomies indicate that Sánchez has referred not exclusively to the communities but to the "territorial administrations" which would also include "councils and councils."

In his speech, Von der Leyen also highlighted the role that the regions will play in the European Recovery Plan and assured that "Europe is with you."

"They are the ones who are going to give life to these projects, those who are going to absorb the large amount of funds" and those who will bring this "wave of transformation" to completion.
