Nagorno-Karabakh: heavy fighting continues along the front line

Another abortive ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh.

A third attempt to end the fighting between the Azerbaijani army and the forces of the self-proclaimed Republic was shattered on Monday;

both sides blaming themselves for the violation of a ceasefire negotiated in Washington at the weekend.

Fighting continues along the front line.

Echoes of heavy artillery fire reached Stepanakert late into the night.

If the main city of Nagorno-Karabakh was not targeted on Monday, the fighting was on the other hand intense in the northeast, in the region of Martakert where Grad and Smerch missiles landed, according to Armenian journalists, in the east towards Martouni, but also in the south.

According to the Nagorno-Karabakh human rights delegate, one civilian was killed and two others were injured in an Azerbaijani missile attack on a village.

Among the most disputed places, the control of the Lachine corridor which constitutes the main land crossing point between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.

Azerbaijani forces continue to advance.

They would only be ten kilometers from this strategic city.

Buses of volunteers were dispatched there from Yerevan to reinforce the workforce.

The Armenian Prime Minister, for his part, affirmed on Facebook that Yerevan " 

continues to strictly respect the cease-fire regime 

".

Nikol Pachinian who says he is ready for “ 

compromises

 ” but not for “ 

capitulation

 ”.
