Appeals to the WTO's decision to add tariffs to China

The United States has taken steps to appeal against the US sanctions that impose tariffs on imports from China after the WTO (World Trade Organization) has determined that it violates international trade rules. I did.

The Trump administration in the United States has accused China of infringing intellectual property rights and has imposed sanctions on some of its imports from China with a 25% tariff.

In September, the WTO, which is responsible for resolving trade disputes in response to China's opposition to this, violated international trade rules because the US sanctions were not justified by a subcommittee in the first instance. I showed the judgment that it is.

Regarding this decision, the WTO announced at a meeting held on the 26th that the United States had taken steps to appeal the content to the second-instance senior committee.

However, the WTO's senior committee is currently out of service due to US opposition, failing to secure the required number of members, and China said, "We will use this situation to finalize the subcommittee's decision. I'm trying to avoid it. "

The WTO commented that the members of the Appellate Body should be appointed at this day's meeting, but the United States has taken the opposite position and there is no prospect of proceeding with the hearing.
